Intensive TEAM-CBT Therapy

High-Speed Therapy for Anxiety and Depression

In-person in Mountain View, California, or online throughout California

Personalized therapy intensives, with approximately 12 hours of focused treatment over just 2–3 days or spread across 1–2 weeks.

What If You Could Make Meaningful Progress in Just a Week or Two?

When you're struggling with anxiety, depression, self-criticism, or overwhelming worry, waiting another week between therapy sessions can feel like a long time.

Perhaps you've already spent months or years in traditional therapy. You've gained insight into your difficulties, but you're still struggling with the same painful feelings and patterns.

Or maybe you're simply ready to make a significant investment of time and energy in changing your life.

Intensive TEAM-CBT therapy offers a different approach.

Instead of meeting for 50 minutes once a week, we'll devote several hours to focused, individualized treatment over a relatively short period.

The goal is to help you make meaningful progress as efficiently as possible, while developing practical skills you can use long after therapy ends.

What Is an Intensive Therapy Program?

An intensive is a personalized course of TEAM-CBT (Testing, Empathy, Agenda Setting, and Methods), an innovative approach to cognitive behavioral therapy developed by Dr. David Burns.

Unlike group programs or retreats, your intensive is individual therapy, tailored specifically to you.

We'll work collaboratively to identify your goals, understand what's keeping you stuck, and select powerful, evidence-based techniques suited to your particular challenges.

A typical intensive involves approximately 12 hours of therapy, with flexible scheduling options:

  • 2–3-Day Intensive: Concentrated treatment over two or three days. This can be an excellent option for clients traveling to the San Francisco Bay Area from other states or countries, or for local clients who prefer to dedicate several consecutive days to therapy.

  • 1–2-Week Intensive: Treatment sessions spread over one or two weeks, allowing time between appointments to practice new skills and build on your progress.

The exact schedule and number of hours will be tailored to your goals and circumstances.

In-person intensives are available at my Mountain View, California office. Online intensives are also available for clients located throughout California.

Traveling to California for Intensive Therapy?

You don't have to live in the San Francisco Bay Area to participate in an in-person therapy intensive.

My Mountain View office welcomes clients who travel from elsewhere in the United States or internationally for concentrated, individualized treatment.

For people traveling a significant distance, a 2–3-day intensive can be especially convenient. Rather than making repeated trips for weekly appointments, you can dedicate a few days to focused therapeutic work.

We'll discuss your goals and scheduling needs before you travel, so we can develop a treatment plan that makes effective use of your time.

Whether you're coming from nearby or halfway around the world, my goal is to provide a thoughtful, personalized experience that helps you make meaningful progress and leave with practical tools for continued growth.

What Can Intensive Therapy Help With?

Intensive TEAM-CBT may be helpful if you're struggling with:

  • Anxiety, excessive worry, or persistent fears

  • Depression, sadness, or feelings of hopelessness

  • Perfectionism, self-criticism, or low self-esteem

  • Social anxiety and fear of judgment

  • Procrastination and avoidance

  • Relationship difficulties and painful interpersonal patterns

We'll focus on the specific challenges that matter most to you.

Why Choose Intensive Therapy?

More time to go deeper. Longer sessions allow us to move beyond simply discussing your difficulties and spend substantial time practicing techniques that can help you change them.

Momentum between sessions. Working together more frequently can help maintain focus and build on the progress you make.

A personalized approach. Rather than following a standardized program, we'll choose methods based on your goals, your experiences, and what works best for you.

Practical tools for the future. Relapse prevention is an essential part of our work. You'll learn how to respond when difficult thoughts and feelings return, so you can continue building on what you've accomplished.

The possibility of rapid improvement. Some clients experience substantial changes in a surprisingly short period. While results vary, intensive therapy is designed to make focused, efficient use of our time together.

What Makes TEAM-CBT Different?

TEAM-CBT goes beyond simply challenging negative thoughts.

Together, we'll explore the thoughts and beliefs contributing to your emotional suffering, while also recognizing the positive values and motivations that may be connected to your symptoms.

We'll address the understandable resistance that can sometimes make change difficult, even when you desperately want to feel better.

Then we'll use a variety of practical, evidence-based methods to help you develop new ways of thinking, feeling, and responding to life's challenges.

My goal is not only to help you feel better, but to help you become your own therapist, equipped with skills you can use throughout your life.

Is Intensive Therapy Right for You?

Intensive therapy may be a good fit if you're motivated to work actively on your difficulties, can devote several hours to treatment over a short period, and would prefer a concentrated approach rather than traditional weekly sessions.

It's not necessarily the best choice for everyone. During our initial consultation, we'll discuss your goals, circumstances, and whether an intensive or another treatment format would be more appropriate.
